Surface Treatment

At QuickTube NMF Industries, we offer a range of different services related to surface treatment of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Durability and finish are always our focus when dealing with various types of surfaces..

ANODIZING OF ALUMINUM

Anodizing is an electrochemical surface treatment. It creates an increase in the naturally formed oxide layer that occurs on the surface when the material comes into contact with oxygen.

The purpose of anodizing is:

  1. To create an electrically insulating surface.
  2. To form a decorative surface.
  3. To enhance corrosion resistance.
  4. To increase surface hardness and thereby increase resistance to mechanical wear.
PICKLING OF STAINLESS STEEL

With pickling of stainless steel, through immersion and spray pickling, discoloration is removed from the surface.

Spray pickling is often used as an alternative to traditional pickling. Spray pickling is used if the size of specific items is too large for immersion in a tank or if other factors make immersion unsuitable.

The advantages of pickling are:

  1. Heat zones are removed from welding.
  2. Metallic impurities are removed from the surface.
  3. Acid can penetrate all cavities.
  4. The stainless surface is restored through the acid.
ELECTROPOLISHING OF STAINLESS STEEL

Electropolishing provides a visually pleasing and long-lasting result. Electropolishing of stainless steel involves an electrochemical treatment that removes a thin layer from the material's surface. This minimizes burrs and gas inclusions, making the material smoother and shinier.

Electropolished surfaces also provide:

  1. Improved corrosion resistance and long-lasting strength.
  2. Optimized high-frequency conductivity.
  3. Reduced outgassing in high vacuum.
  4. Optimized welding and soldering capabilities.
  5. Reduced catalytic wall reaction and easier cleaning options.
GLASS BEADING OF STAINLESS STEEL

During glass bead blasting, the surface is blasted with small glass beads (100-200 µm in diameter). They are accelerated at an appropriate speed using compressed air and blown out through a nozzle.

The beads create small spherical marks and leave a satin matte surface. The surface is thus subjected to compressive stresses, which reduces the tendency for crack formation. However, this is generally only of interest for certain technical components.

POWDER COATING OF MILD STEEL AND ALUMINUM

Powder coating provides a uniform surface that is highly resistant to scratches. Therefore, it is an optimal surface protection against climate influences and corrosion. This makes it a type of coating with high weather resistance and long-lasting qualities.

No tasks are too small - and almost none are too big - for us. We offer powder coating of items up to 3 meters in both height and width, and with a length of up to 15 meters.
